Civil War Reenactments

Back in 2013, I attended the Civil War Days reenactment in Huntington Beach, CA.

I was taken by the period, the dress, and the solemn look upon the faces of the reenactors. Here you will find my collection of images for you to browse and enjoy.

Some years ago, while at a concert by Placentia Symphonic Band, I listened to Richard Hall as he sang Bring Him Home. You may know this piece from Les Misérables. At the time, I had been taking photos at the civil war reenactments. So I thought the two would go together nicely.

The lyrics-

God on high

Hear my prayer

In my need

You have always been there

He is young

He's afraid

Let him rest

Heaven blessed.

Bring him home

Bring him home

Bring him home.

He's like the son I might have known

If God had granted me a son.

The summers die

One by one

How soon they fly

On and on

And I am old

And will be gone.

Bring him peace

Bring him joy

He is young

He is only a boy

You can take

You can give

Let him be

Let him live

If I die, let me die

Let him live

Bring him home

Bring him home

Bring him home.
